DESSERT BREAD

Here are two delicious dessert bread recipes to drool over as you contemplate your next brunch, tea or dessert party. Both Grace and Bri have an extraordinary gift when it comes to food, so beware, you may become hooked!

 

YOU SAY BANANA BREAD
from Grace K. Anderson of Irvine, CA

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups wheat flour  
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda 
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup sugar 
1/4 cup butter
1 egg
2 bananas, mashed (when I have a couple ripe bananas, I'll mash them up and freeze them for baking later)
3 Tblsp milk
1 Tblsp lemon juice
3/4 to 1 cup chocolate chips
3/4 to 1 cup walnuts

Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Cream sugar and butter until light.
Add egg and beat well.
Beat in mashed bananas and milk.
Stir in butter mixture into the flour mixture until all blended together and add in the chocolate chips and walnuts.
Place batter in greased 8 x 4-inch loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. 

Serves 12

 


 

YUMMY PUMPKIN BREAD

INGREDIENTS:

3 1/2 cups sifted flour
3 cups sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
4 eggs
1 cup oil
2/3 cup water
2 cups of pumpkin( 1 large can)
2 cups chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts

Sift flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon and salt together.
Mix eggs, oil, water, and pumpkin well and then add to dry mixture.
Mix well then add chocolate chips and walnuts.
Bake at 350 for about an hour depending on what size loaf pan or muffin pan you use.
