DAIRY TALES

Milk, does it REALLY do the body good? So many people are switching to alternatives to milk - why? Is it a lactose intolerance or a dairy allergy that drives you away from milk? Do you drink Lactose-free milk, or soy milk, rice milk, almond milk, hemp milk, oat milk, horchata, or coconut milk? Are any of these really any better for you? Please share your experience, your expertise, or your review here.

These days I drink my coffee black, but if I'm on a café con leche bend I usually choose Plain, Unsweetened Soy Milk for my coffee. It does not taste better than regular milk by any stretch of the imagination, but it's tolerable. It's even better in espresso. I don't mind it in my hot chocolate either. I will not deny it: I have not found the perfect substitute for my caffeine habits.

Rice milk, on the other hand, I have grown a certain fondness for. Rice milk is great for baking or in your cereal (hot or cold). Again, I prefer the plain, unsweetened variety.
